UPDATE: Rick Ross says that Meek Mill has been released from prison.

After serving nearly six months in prison, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania rapper Meek Mill will reportedly be released today (December 2). Meek began his prison sentence in July of this year after violating his probation.

Complex reports that news of the Maybach Music Group rapper's pending release was announced by Fox29 Philly.

The news station also reports that upon his release, Meek will have to participate in community service and will be unable to travel outside of Philadelphia.

Prior to his arrest this year, Meek Mill filed a civil lawsuit against the Philadelphia police department, which he ultimately lost. His arrest, which took place after he was seen posing with a gun in a video posted on Instagram, was made weeks after he lost his lawsuit. As a result of Meek's prison sentence, the September 2 release for his Dreams Worth More Than Money album was postponed.

Maybach Music Group founder Rick Ross released a statement on the matter in September. "MMG and Meek Mill have decided to release Dreams Worth More Than Money at a future date," Ross said. "In true MMG fashion, Meek has dedicated himself to perfecting his sophomore project and it is only right that it should be rolled out exceptionally well."
