So Now the Recession is F&%$'n with New York Fashion Week?! |

The recession has officially pissed me off. Why? Vera Wang, Betsy Johnson AND Carmen Marc Valvo, so far, have confirmed that they will not show at February's Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week. |
Each of the designers decided to forgot showing at one of the most
anticipated fashion events of the year, which could run them up to
$500,000 and is organized by IMG Fashion. Wang has opted to show her
collection on a smaller scale.
"We feel that the intimacy of a smaller venue will be the perfect
backdrop for the collection and is an appropriate statement for the
times," she said in a statement.
Valvo will host a showroom
presentation or an intimate cocktail reception, instead of showing at
Fashion Week, to unveil a smaller collection of 20 pieces, down from
the usual 40, worn by 10 to 12 models, instead of the usual 20 models,
according to the Wall Street Journal. A spokesperson for Johnson said
they will still show the collection, but they still haven't decided on
whether on the format or location.
Wang has shown her lines in the tent for the last four years, Valvo
over the last 10 years and Johnson has shown for the last five years.
It's a damn shame what eight years of screwing up the economy has
doesn't to an industry that doesn't bother anybody?!
