Microsoft has sent a letter to the board at Yahoo and given them a deadline of April 26 to agree to their $41 billion buyout deal or face a hostile takeover. Yahoo rejected the offer earlier in the year, saying it undervalued the company. |
If the Yahoo board does not agree to the bid Microsoft has threatened to launch a hostile bid, creating an "undesirable impact on the value of your company". Microsoft may also attempt to get it's own candidates onto the Yahoo board at the AGM.
"If we have not concluded an agreement within the next three weeks, we will be compelled to take our case directly to your shareholders, including the initiation of a proxy contest to elect an alternative slate of directors..." said the letter.
