As I was relaxing the other day doing my daily
illegal searches on the web for new music, I stumbled across this track
entitled "Mr. Carter" by none other then Lil' Wayne and the G.O.A.T.
himself Jay-Z. To my surprise I was not disappointed by the Weezy and Hov
collaboration. In fact, the track dominates in comparison to the last song the
two recorded together; 'Hello Brooklyn 2.0'. 'Mr. Carter' has all the makings
of a classic hip-hop banger. It starts out with Wayne
spitting his heart out and then Jay coming on showing why he's considered one
of the best ever. Weezy picks up right off of Jigga's verse and in a symbolic
way ends with Jay-Z handing the game in a sense to Lil' Wayne. The entire song
is fire, but there's one line on the track that almost stops time for a minute
and really drives a true hip-hop head to think.
"Next time you mention Pac, Biggie or Jay-Z
don't forget Weezy Baby!"
I mean Wayne
is good and arguably one of the best in the game now, but damn are we ready to
position him like that yet? With that said, I felt it was necessary to analyze
who we must not forget to list along with Pac, Biggie and Jay-Z before we even
mention Weezy F. Baby!
Now I could compile and
showcase a list of my greatest rappers of all time, but truth be told, putting
together that list is like the subject of religion. No one in this world can
agree on one set list.
