Pharrell Williams' pact with adidas marks the brand's first arrangement with a designer who owns their own textile company.

Pharrell Williams has entered into a long-term partnership with adidas, the brand announced today (March 27).

"Working with an iconic brand like adidas is such an incredible opportunity," Pharrell says in a press release. "From the classic track suit, to growing up in Virginia wearing Stan Smiths, adidas has been a staple in my life. Their pieces are timeless. This is an exciting partnership for both me and for Bionic Yarn."

Bionic Yarn is Pharrell's textile company and is a part of The Vortex Project. The initiative works with Parley for the Oceans and uses plastic debris from the oceans and turns them into yarn and fabric.

Bionic Yarn will be used in some of Pharrell's upcoming adidas Originals products. Pharrell Williams' pact with adidas marks the brand's first arrangement with a designer who owns their own textile company.

The first adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams products are slated to debut Summer 2014.
