Roc Nation Sports signed industry veteran David Itskowitch to run its boxing division.
Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports is about to make a push into the boxing realm, according to ESPN.
"We're energized, and we're going to make a difference," Michael Yormark, the president and chief of branding and strategy of Roc Nation, said during interview with ESPN.com yesterday (August 17). "This is a huge priority to us. This is a highly serious business to us.”
Roc Nation Sports has hired David Itskowitch as the COO of its boxing division. Itskowitch, who has 18 years of experience in the boxing world, says that Roc Nation Sports will promote its first event by the end of 2014.
"This is a serious business for us moving forward, and Dave has one of the great reputations in the boxing industry," Yormark said. "Hiring him should be a loud and clear statement this is serious for us and that we will do this the right way. We have one of the most respected individuals in the sport leading the charge for us.”
Roc Nation Sports represents New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, among others.
