Chief Keef Reportedly Dropped From Interscope Records

Chief Keef's recent string of legal cases are cited as reasons why he is no longer with Interscope.

Chief Keef is no longer a part of the Interscope Records roster, according to reports on AllHipHop.

The website notes Chief Keef’s legal cases in 2013 and 2014 as reasons why the Chicago-native is no longer with Interscope.

“Earlier this year, matters began to sour with Chief Keef, his camp and the bosses at Interscope,” AllHipHop reports. “Our source maintains Interscope began to ‘subtly disassociate’ itself from the 19-year-old rapper after he had a series of legal cases sprout up in 2013 and 2014, ranging from lawsuits to drug offenses… A March 2014 shoot out in Chicago, which authorities linked Keef to, allegedly further damaged the relationship with Interscope.

“Keef and his people tried to keep the label accountable (once Keef moved to Los Angeles) but Interscope didn’t seem interested in dropping a new album,” continues the report. “Keef’s team tried to have formal meetings but nothing moved… Insiders say friction intensified until there were arguments with higher-ups in Interscope over how Keef’s career was being handled. Shortly thereafter, Keef was quietly released from his contract.”

Chief Keef signed with Interscope Records in 2012 and released his debut studio album Finally Rich in December of that year. The album sold 50,000 copies during its first week.

Chief Keef’s Back From The Dead 2 mixtape is scheduled for release on October 31.
