Mac Miller Explains Why He Signed To Warner Bros.

Mac Miller says that he doesn't want to exist "solely on the Internet," wants to try new things with Warner Bros. deal.

Mac Miller signed a $10 million deal with Warner Bros. Records back in late October and since, the REMember Music rapper has been quiet on the topic.

Recently sitting down with The FADER, the Pittsburgh native broke that silence and explained why he took the deal and what a major label can offer him versus being independent.

"I don't want to exist solely on the Internet. I think what it was for me was [it was] time to take the next step and experience what that's like and what it is and what's going to happen. Doing it on the independent level and taking it as far as we did is amazing... I think it just makes sense for where I'm at right now [and] where I could possibly go."

Mac also explained how he will be able to retain his creative control, something that has always been important to him and his fans.

"I'm trying to not let [the deal] factor in," he said. "I've held on and been independent and done my own thing long enough that they trust me and are going to let me make what I want to make. I think that the second I let that affect the creation, it's horrible."

Mac Miller released his Faces mixtape independently earlier this year. He will now release his own music as well as “sign and develop new artists” through REMember/Warner Bros. according to his new deal.
