Penny Hardaway’s first signature sneaker will be the last to release in Nike’s comeback collection. After the Air Foamposite One releases wrap up later this year, Nike will reintroduce the Air Max Penny 1 during the Spring of 2011. Word of the reissue surfaced back in March, with an announcement that the original Black/Varsity Royal-White colorway would be returning alongside a Phoenix Suns version. While images of the OG Orlando Magic colorway were plentiful at the time, pictures of the Suns version were not, leaving us only to suspect what we believed they could look like.

Thanks to Sneaker Obsession reader VinceBaker, we have obtained a catalog scan of the aforementioned Phoenix Sun Air Max Penny 1 to share with you. Appearing nothing like what we had thought they would, the Air Max Penny 1 “Phoenix Suns” features a predominately black finish, contrasted by minimal accents of purple on the Swoosh, within the visible air unit, on the laces and on the inner lining. I had figured there would be some white or orange to go along with the black and purple and really hit home with the Suns colorway, but Nike proved me wrong by taking a dark approach all the way around. They don’t exactly scream out Phoenix to me, but that’s not to say I don’t plan on copping a pair.

No official release dates are available just yet, but the Suns and Orlando editions of the Air Max Penny 1 are expected to release early next year as part of Nike’s Spring 2011 collection.
