Music mogul/record executive Antonio "LA" Reid has officially been let out of his contract with Island Def Jam after seven years in the position.

L.A. Reid will be replaced by Barry Weiss, who ran the Zomba group and more recently, Sony Music.

While L.A. will exit to become the latest judge on Simon Cowell's latest competitive series "The X Factor," Barry Weiss will take the reigns of Universal/Motown.

Throughout the years, L.A. Reid has had a keen eye for spotting talent.

His record label, LaFace, was founded with business partner, Baby Face in 1989.

The Atlanta-based label was responsible for a breaking a number of artists, including rap group Outkast, Goodie Mob, Usher, TLC, Tony Braxton and others.

Reid eventually sold LaFace and took over at Arista Records, where he broke acts like Pink, Avril Lavigne, Ciara and others.

He took over at Island Def Jam in 2004, where he nurtured the careers of Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and others.
