Brooklyn Residents Reach Compromise With New Hip-Hop Club

By: allhiphop.comPosted On: 04/19/2011 7:46 A

A dispute between the residents of a Brooklyn, New York neighborhood and the owner of a new Hip-Hop club has been resolved.

In March, Park Slope residents circulated a petition opposing the opening of Prime 6, a new Hip-Hop club that is planning to open, to capitalize on the New Jersey Nets' upcoming move to Brooklyn.

Residents of the neighborhood protested the venue's choice of music at local community meetings.

The petition also attempted to get the owner to change the genre of music from Hip-Hop to Indie Rock.

Now, the owner of Prime 6 has reached an agreement with the residents.

A lawyer for the Park Slop residents told The New York Post that there will be no live Hip-Hop performances and only acoustic music will be played when there are live shows.

There will also be a limited number of people in the backyard of the venue, where music has also been barred.
