Former 2 Live Crew frontman Luther Campbell has lost his bid for Mayor of Miami Dade County.

According to poll results, Campbell impressively placed fourth out of 11 candidates, garnering 11% of the votes or 20,652 votes in total.

That put Luke just 7,030 votes behind former State Representative Marcelo Llorente, who placed third in the field, with 15% of the votes or 27,682 votes in total.

Former Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina won 33.7 % of the vote, while  former Miami-Dade County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez won 28.8% of the vote.

Robaina and Giminez will face off against each other later this month, to determine the new mayor of Miami-Dade County.

The recall election took place yesterday (May 24th), after former Mayor Carlos Alvarez was removed from office on March 15th, in one of the most high-profile election recalls in United States history.

Despite the media attention that the recall election generated, voter turnout was relatively lighter compared to previous elections.

Now, Julio Robaina and Carlos Gimenez will advance to a runoff election, which will take place on June 28th.
