Tha Doggfather will be awarded for his contributions to music.

Since his 1993 debut with Doggystyle, Snoop Dogg has released eleven studio albums and dedicated almost 20 years to the entertainment industry. Now, the Long Beach, California native will be honored for his hard work with a BMI Icon award at the upcoming BMI Urban Awards on August 26th.

During an all-star musical tribute, several artists will perform renditions of Snoop’s biggest hits, from “Gin and Juice” to “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Past honorees have included James Brown, Little Richard, The Jacksons, Willie Nelson, George Clinton and the Bee Gees.“As Snoop Dogg approaches his 20th year in the entertainment industry, he remains a visionary MC with sharp instinct and velvet delivery,” BMI wrote in a statement. “He is a fiercely imaginative songwriter, capable of cutting rhymes and wry wordplay.”

To date, Snoop has already picked up 12 BMI Awards for his numerous hits. The annual awards ceremony will be held at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California.
