Three books coming from Jay-Z

By: hiphopblog.comPosted On: 07/15/2009 10:25 A

On Monday afternoon Jay-Z called in to Atlanta's V103 to explain his concert's cancellation the previous evening. He also gave show host Ryan Cameron an exclusive tidbit regarding a much-buzzed about three-book deal. He revealed that he has indeed signed a book deal, and the initial tome, Decoded, is committed to breaking some of his lyrics down line for line.

"I've done the deal to do a book and the name of it is called Decoded. It's called Decoded because I'm going to decode all the lyrics from my records. I'm gonna pick the select ones, all the double entendres and things that people may have missed or may have gotten but want confirmation on it. That's what the book is about."

True Jay-Z fans should find the book to be a real treat because the rapper is renowned for his fancy word play and witty lyricism. Look for all three to come from the Spiegel & Grau imprint of Random House.

The other two books are currently untitled but a couple of ideas have been mentioned. As far as content, one will be a traditional memoir, and the other is said to be a business manuscript. Check with HHB for release dates.
