Lil Wayne and Rihanna lead the finalists for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, taking place on May 20th at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rihanna is a finalist in 13 of the 22 artist categories this year, including Top Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist. Lil Wayne ties Lady Gaga for being a finalist in 10 categories, while LMFAO is a finalist in 17 categories.

The Top New Artist category includes Bad Meets Evil and Big Sean, who are up against Wiz Khalifa, Foster The People and Scot McCreery.

According to Billboard.com, the BBMA will "reflect Billboard's chart rankings based on key fan interactions with music, including album sales and downloads, track downloads, radio airplay and touring as well as streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Youtube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music."
