Ryan Leslie Ordered To Pay $1 Million Reward For Recovered Stolen Laptop

A judge ordered for Ryan Leslie to make good on his promise to reward the person who returned his stolen laptop.

Back in November 2010, Ryan Leslie's laptop went missing during a performance in Germany. He put out the offer of a $1 million reward to anyone that returned the computer, but reneged on his promise after a man named Armin Augestein found the hardware while walking his dog.

After Leslie failed to make good on his promise to pay a cool million, Augustein filed a lawsuit against the musician. Yesterday, jurors ruled against Leslie, ordering him to pay Augustein the reward in full.

"I'm very happy ... that the American judicial system, which is so totally different from ours, functioned so well with a jury that are not professionals and are laymen," he said in German through his lawyer Steven Thal. "No one forced him to make an offer of so much money for a finder's fee... It seems like he believes that that which he promised, he doesn't have to live up to."

Leslie afterwards said that he was "not disappointed" with the verdict and planned to appeal. "The reasons I defended myself in the case are the same reasons I believe Mr. Augstein is not entitled to the reward," Leslie said, who suggested that Augustein had something to do with the initial theft of the laptop.

Leslie, who appeared on the cover of today's edition of the NY Post, later tweeted about the incident.
