Common writes a paragraph on Jay-Z's "Open Letter," as new music from Drake, J. Cole, Daft Punk, Slaughterhouse and Cam'ron featuring Lil Wayne drives one of the most exciting weeks of the year.

This week featured nine of 10 entirely new posts taking the Top 10. Jay-Z, last week's winner, stayed around to play with the Swizz Beatz-produced "Open Letter."It naturally helped things that Common re-circulated the track as a remix, teaming with the Brooklyn Nets Musical Director and acclaimed mixtape vet J. Period for an exclusive remix, which premiered at HipHopDX on Monday. Other goodies came from headliners like Drake, J. Cole, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and a Cam'ron and Lil Wayne reunion. If that weren't enough, Daft Punk brought in the great minds behind The Neptunes and Chic for bang out a summer dance gem.

Common Adds A "P.S." To Jay-Z's "Open Letter"
On Monday this week, HipHopDX's homie J. Period dropped off his exclusive remix to Jay-Z's Top 10 leader last week, "Open Letter." With mutual friends in Kanye West and No I.D., Comm stepped up and showed support for his fellow early '90s Hip Hop peer. Following Pitbull's own take on Jay-Z and Beyonce's trip to Cuba, expect more open letters across the game, especially since it's a great platform to address rumors and controversy—which many artists seem to be finding (or finding them?). Common also hit the leader-board working with his and No I.D.'s Cocaine 80's project. "Congratulations" plays into Comm's success with concepts, and at least begins in raising a glass to some happy newlyweds.

Funkmaster Flex Grabs Mixtape Spotlight Again, Asks Who You Mad At?
Three of this week's Top 10 songs came courtesy of Funkmaster Flex's latest double-mixtape, Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself? The HOT 97 mainstay and former Loud/RCA Records plaque-earner pulled new songs ranging from J. Cole's "Maine On Fire" to a mid-'00s-esque Dipset/YMCMB reunion in "Love To A Diplomat," and even a new one from Slaughterhouse. Though this one is a freebie, it's Flex's return to mixtapes since 2005's The Car Show Tour. Big dog status indeed.
