T-Pain being pushed for Florida State president

How's this for forward thinking? If the whole Auto-Tune thing is on its death bed like a certain Brooklyn rapper says it is, T-Pain's already got another gig lined up.

According to a story in the Tallahassee Democrat, there's actually a pinch of legitimacy behind "Give Pain a Chance," a campaign started by some Florida State University students in an attempt to get T-Pain on as the school's new president.

Laugh all you like, but just this past decade, the governors of Minnesota and California have been a former WWF wrestler and the Terminator respectively.

T-Pain, a Florida native whose "T" in his moniker actually stands for "Tallahassee," appears lightweight interested in the gig too, telling his 58,000+ Twitter followers this week that the campaign "is well underway." The team's got the t-shirts and Facebook page to prove it.

"It's time to show the world what we already know - that T-Pain is the truest Mackademic to ever walk the streets of Tallahassee," reads the Facebook page. "But we need your help."

The man behind all of this, FSU grad student Justin de la Cruz, knows his guy has no realistic shot at out-going president T.K. Wetherell's post, but he does feel the efforts will raise interest about the position.

"It's all about connections and fund raising," said de la Cruz. "The trustees said they're looking for someone to bring in a billion dollars... I don't want to say that presidents are figureheads but the university already has people in place to look over things."
