The stars were out at New York City's Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday night for the premiere of Baz Luhrmann's film, The Great Gatsby. Lead actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Toby Maguire were spotted on the black carpet posing for photos before entering the venue. Other noteable attendees included Anna Wintour, Martha Stewart, Nina Dobrev, Isla Fisher, Gayle King, Michael K. Williams, Emeli Sandé, Florence Welch, and of course, the soundtrack's executive producer Jay-Z.

Talking with BlackTreeTV, Jay-Z spoke on how his title of executive producer came about while recording “No Church in the Wild” during his Watch the Throne recording session with Kanye West, the project being not your normal collection of artists, and pushing boundaries musically.

“It's not a typical soundtrack, it's just a stand alone piece. Songs are pretty much in the film, it goes hand-in-hand with each other. It had to fit pretty snug, it wasn't an after thought. It just really goes to the thing that I've always said that music is music no matter what, timeless music is timeless music and it doesn't matter which genre. So we did a lot of jumping over those lines that people put there.”

Movie lovers can watch The Great Gatsby in theatres on May 10. The soundtrack arrives on May 7 with appearances from Jay-Z, Beyoncé and André 3000, Florence + The Machine, Lana Del Rey, Q-Tip, Fergie, The xx, Emeli Sandé, and more.
