Lauryn Hill Was "Required" To Release New "Neurotic Society" Single

By: hotnewhiphop.comPosted On: 05/06/2013 2 P

It turns out dropping "Neurotic Society" wasn't Lauryn's call.

Last month, Lauryn Hill was given a deadline to repay tax debts by May 6, signing with Sony almost simultaneously.

"Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released... and yes, I am working on new music," she said.

Now, as reported by HipHopDX, it seems she was pressured to drop her new "Neurotic Society" single because of her current situation. She posted the following on her Tumblr page: "Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there."

The death of her former labelmate Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly only made matters worse.

"In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly). I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!"
