Kendrick Lamar Serves As Principal For The Day At Providence High School

Kendrick took part in the Get Schooled Celebrity Principals for the Day program.
Recently we've seena lot of rappers reaching out to students. Gucci Mane attended Career Day a couple months back, and GZA has been helping out with New York science programs. Kendrick Lamar is the latest emcee to stress the importance of education, visiting a Providence high school where he served as principal for the day.
The appearance took place through the Get Schooled Celebrity Principals for the Day program, and saw K-Dot speaking to over 1000 students about the importance of staying in school. “Without education you don’t have anything,” said Kendrick, who happened tpo have a 4.0 average at Centennial High School in L.A. and became the first member of his family to graduate high school. “My teachers were great positive influences in my life. My middle school English teacher was probably the reason I became a rapper. He used to encourage me to write poetry and would challenge me, which helped me improve my vocabulary and made me enjoy writing.”
Kendrick also took the opportunity to take some photos with the kids, and revealed in an interview with a student that his current favorite song was James Blake's "Retograde" (an artist he's been rumored to be working with).
Other artists who have taken part in the progran are Nicki Minaj, Ne-Yo, and Big Sean.
