Heavy D's Brother Allegedly Seeks Control Of D's Estate

Floyd Myers may be trying to obtain control of his brother Heavy D's estate using a will from 1999, according to court documents.

According to reports, Heavy D's brother Floyd Myers is looking to obtain control of D's estate with a will from 1999. Documents obtained by TMZ note that he hopes to use this old will, which also leaves nothing to Heavy's daughter, parents or siblings.

It is said that Myers filed documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week. According to Myers, Heavy D wrote a will in 1999 and later lost it. However, Myers claims D gave him a copy of this will and he hopes the courts will honor it. In the will, all of Heavy D's assets go directly to Floyd.

Last year, it was revealed that Heavy D owed nearly $44,000 in taxes. Currently, TMZ reports that $320,000 is left in Heavy D's estate and potential earnings from royalties and bank accounts could add to this total in the future.

Still, Myers' lawyers say that there is no conflict with Heavy D's other family members and that the documents were filed only to clear title on a condo that Myers and Heavy D co-owned. Myers now hopes to sell that condo.

None of Heavy D's other family members have spoken on the matter yet.

Heavy D passed away in November 2011. Upon his death, Floyd Myers spoke of D's love for his family and in particular, for his daughter. "He loved his daughter. He put his career on hold so he could be there as a father...He loved family, and that's who he was, but it wasn't too much different from how he treated his friends and his fans," he explained. "He showed everybody love and affection, and we're gonna miss that."
