Bruno Mars' Mother Bernadette Hernandez Passes Away

Bernadette Hernandez was 55. She passed away at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii due to a brain aneurysm.

The mother of Bruno Mars has died in Hawaii, according to an Associated Press report published on People.com. Bernadette Hernandez was 55.

Hernandez died yesterday (June 1) of a brain aneurysm, according to a representative from Mars' label, Atlantic Records, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak on the record. 

Hernandez died in Honolulu, Hawaii at Queens Medical Center. Hernandez was a hulu dancer and singer originally from the Philippines. She helped develop Mars' interested in music.

Mars has collaborated with a number of rappers and appeared with several of them on prominent singles. The singer appeared with Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" on Bad Meets Evil's 2011 single "Lighters" and joined B.o.B on the 2010 cut "Nothin' On You," among others.

Mars was set to kick off a tour in the U.S. later this month. No word on whether the death will affect his concert schedule, according to TMZ.com.
