After producing on some platinum albums for Def Jam Records, Don Cannon is the latest accomplished producer to take an executive post at the label.

Following Executive Vice President of A&R Sha Money XL's recent exit to take a post at Epic Records, Def Jam Records has added another high-profile producer to their A&R Department. This morning it was announced that Don Cannon will take a post as Vice President of A&R at the famed New York City-based label.

Don Cannon was a founding member of DJ Drama's The Aphilliates deejay collective, before leaving the unit in 2008. Like Drama, Cannon is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native who relocated to Atlanta, Georgia for college and music. In addition to a series of mixtapes in the mid-2000s, Cannon produced singles such as Young Jeezy and Jay-Z's "Go Crazy," Outkast's "Da Art Of Storytelling, Pt. 4," and Pusha T's "Numbers On The Boards," two of which are for Def Jam. He has also produced for television and sporting events.

“A music person can only dream about being at Def Jam, the most important Hip Hop destination in the world,” said Cannon in a statement. “I feel I have a cutting edge vision for where the culture and Hip Hop are heading and I'm excited to be joining the team. I'm already working 24/7 to drive the innovation of music forward and I'm confident we'll land some big successes in the very near future.”

Def Jam Records is currently planning Big Sean's Hall Of Fame, Pusha T's My Name Is My Name and 2 Chainz' B.O.A.T. 2 albums.
