Whitney Dominates Sales

By: hiphopblog.comPosted On: 09/11/2009 5:32 P

Not that it's a total shock or anything, but Whitney Houston has returned to the Billboard charts in a major way. The songstress' latest, I Look To You, moved about 305,000 copies over its debut week, a number surpassing all of Houston's past efforts.

Though Houston's had a host of prior Billboard No. 1s (the self-titled debut and trailblazing Whitney, for two), one of them had the opening selling power of her 2002 effort Just Whitney that sold 205,000 its first week.

While Whitney's CD made the biggest splash, it wasn't the only release of note in the top 10 this week. Trey Songz's Ready was able to hit No. 3 after 131,000 sales. Trippy rap act Insane Clown Posse was No. 4 with Bang! Pow! Boom!'s 50,000 sales. Pitbull's Rebelution translated pretty well too with a No. 8 finish and 41,000 moved units.
