Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Added As 2013 MTV VMA Performers

Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars have been added to MTV VMAs' 2013 roster of performers, joining Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus, among others.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have been added to the list of performers for 2013's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). The duo will perform "Same Love," a song about marriage equality, at the August 25 event.

It's fitting that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will perform since the duo are tied with Justin Timberlake for most VMA nominations this year with six. "Thrift Shop" is up for Video of the Year, "Can't Hold Us" is up for Best Hip Hop Video and "Same Love" was nominated for Best Video with a Social Message.
Additionally, Bruno Mars has also been added to the list of performers for the award show at Brooklyn, New York's Barclays Center. Mack, Lewis and Mars join a roster of performers that includes Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus, among others. The event will air live on Sunday August 25 at 9pm ET/PT.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released their debut album, The Heist, in October 2012. The album featured Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q and Mary Lambert, among others. The Heist went gold this year, according to RIAA certification records. The album singles also earned RIAA awards with "Can't Hold Us" hitting platinum and "Thrift Shop" going multi-platinum.
On August 9, ScHoolboy Q made surprising comments about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The TDE rapper said that Mack & Lewis should win the VMA for Best Hip Hop Video instead of his fellow Top Dawg, Kendrick Lamar.
