Batiste Brothers file a lawsuit against T-Pain, Pitbull, DJ Khaled and Rick Ross, among others, for illegally using incorporating their music without compensation or permission.

T-Pain, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Pitbull and Cash Money Records are among many musicians being sued by The Batiste Brothers band. A lawsuit filed by Paul Batiste, representing the New Orleans jazz band, was filed in United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana last week, according to a report by AllHipHop. The 118-page lawsuit reportedly accuses several musicians of illegally incorporating Batiste Brothers' music into new material without permission from the band or compensation for the songs. 

The lawsuit mentions songs like "All I Do Is Win" by DJ Khaled and T-Pain's "Booty Wurk" as selections that illegally used work from The Batiste Brothers. In addition to Cash Money Records, several other publishing companies and record labels were included in the lawsuit, including Def Jam and RCA/Jive. 

“Defendants have blatantly poached beats, lyrics, melodies and chords from Plaintiff’s songs,” the lawsuit says, according to AllHipHop. “Many of the Defendants songs have been released multiple times, in multiple versions and that each release constitutes an independent act of copyright infringement.” 

Batiste is seeking damages, which exceed $100,000,000, according to the lawsuit. Batiste is also seeking profits from the records mentioned in the lawsuit. Beyond damages and profits, Batiste is also seeking a permanent injunction on use of the music in question without permission and accounting statements.
