ScHoolboy Q talks about "Nightmare on Figg St." and his response to Jay Z & Kanye West's "Ni**as in Paris."
In 2012, ScHoolboy Q released "Nightmare on Figg St." where he addressed a Jay Z line from Watch the Throne's "Ni**as In Paris."
"What's 50 grand to a mothafucka like me?" Jay Z says on the song. "Can you please remind me?"
On "Nightmare on Figg St.," ScHoolboy Q addresses the line by repeating it and expanding on it from a different perspective.
"What's 50 grand to a mothafucka like me?" Q says on "Nightmare on Figg. St." "Can you please remind me? / Can't be serious. Right? / Shit, I'll remind ya / Put steel behind ya / Put five inside ya / Better chill out wit' all that flossin' potna / Ball so hard / You must be cray / Leave 'em in the streets / With his shoelaces missin' and socks up off his feet."
"I was a little pissed off at Jay and 'Ye for saying, 'What's 50 grand to a mothafucka like me? Could you please remind [me?] I' will remind you. This is what would happen [for] $50,000 to a mothafucka...It wasn't a real diss. It was just something for the broke homies. If you give somebody $50,000, she would probably fuck around and cry of enjoyment. I just felt like it was still broke niggas out there who would really rob niggas for $50,000. This is what we for $50,000.
"I never met Jay," Q continued. "I got it all the time when I dropped it. Everybody were like, 'Ah, Q took shots at Jay and 'Ye.' All the time. But this was a big song for me though. When I perform this, people go crazy."
"Nightmare on Figg St." was released in 2012 as part of ScHoolboy Q's Habits & Contradictions. Q is currently working on his upcoming album, Oxymoron.
