Lauryn Hill To Go On Tour Instead Of Beginning Home Detention

A judge has reportedly okayed Lauryn Hill's request to postpone her home detention and revitalize her career.

As part of Lauryn Hill's sentence for tax evasion, the rapper-actress was required to complete three months of home detention.

Now, just one week after getting out of prison and serving a three month sentence, Hill is going on tour.

TMZ reports that HIll requested to go on tour from November 15 through December 31, and that a judge has given her permission to do so.

Hill will be required to seek approval for each stop of the tour from her probation officer, and will have to serve the remainder of her home detention sentence after the tour concludes.

Hill's tour plans come shortly after the release of her latest song, titled "Consumerism," which addresses corporate greed, racism and imperialism. The song was reportedly finished through a series of phone calls Hill made during her incarceration.

Upon her sentencing to prison, Lauryn Hill cited threats to her family as the reason for missing tax payments in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Throughout the legal process, Hill posted incendiary Tumblr posts, first to address her financial woes, and later criticizing the IRS and touching on racism in the United States.

Laruyn Hill rose to fame as part of the multiplatinum-selling group The Fugees and received critical acclaim for her 1998 debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Miseducation earned Hill five Grammy Awards, including the Album of the Year award.
