Nas Considering Def Jam President Gig

By: hiphopblog.comPosted On: 09/29/2009 10:09 A

Queensbridge emcee Nas is the newest rapper to be offered a possible presidential seat at hip hop's most legendary label. Def Jam has reportedly approached Nasir Jones about becoming its newest "artist-to-label head." The position is an elusive one, only having been extended to one other rap artist, Jay-Z (whose run as president ended in 2007).

Even Jay, who's usually considered the most cocky of today's artists, has made statements in regards to the position being quite a heavy load.

Recently Nas spoke on the situation:

"I don't know what's in store for the future. I'm happy to do whatever makes sense. I would love to add on and help hip-hop. I feel Def Jam is a great label for hip-hop music but I feel they could be doing a lot more for hip-hop, that's what it's about. Obviously, the people they have, have their own agendas and own direction and I respect that too. I think I can add on but I don't know. At this point and time, I'm just taking it day-by-day, I'm not getting too caught up into all of that."
