Deniro Farrar is preparing for the release of his first official EP.
Deniro Farrar has signed to VICE/Warner Bros. Records, according to a press release issued today (October 9).
”Signing to VICE/Warner is the greatest feeling in the world,” said Deniro Farrar, who is slated to release his first official EP through the arrangement in 2014. “I’ve always been a fan of their media content, and it was clear that they understood my brand. I feel special signing to them because they don’t have that many rappers on their roster. I feel like a student in a small class that will get more attention from the teacher. Plus, they’re also under Warner Bros. Records which means I get the best of both worlds.”
“What first impressed and attracted me to Deniro Farrar was his brutally honest lyrics and his ability to display an unconventional amount of passion through music, both on record and live on stage,” added Eric McLellan, Director of A&R, Sire Records/Warner Bros. Records. “Deniro had what I thought were interesting songs, a unique voice and delivery, a charismatic and confident personality and major star qualities."
Deniro Farrar performed at A3C earlier this month and is scheduled to do a run of North American shows that are slated to include performances at CMJ in New York next week, the press release said.
In June, the Charlotte, North Carolina rapper released The Patriarch II mixtape. He wrote much of the material on the 13-track collection to deal with personal strife.
"I am indebted forever to my music family...forever, however this is not geared solely to please others," Farrar says of The Patriarch II. "Music is therapy, and true magic and classic material occurs when artists leave their souls on a track. This is The Patriarch II. Written in some of the darkest and most bleak times in my life, this is my therapy. Facing indescribable personal trials and tribulations, coupled with my family crumbling as I watch my lil bro and biggest supporter face a serious trial and jail sentence, I did the thing I was born to do. Write and express my life. Motivated by y'all's support, that someone wanted to hear what I had to say, this emotional work was conceived. This is the light at the end of the tunnel, the rose born in the concrete. This is The Patriarch II."
After releasing The Patriarch in March, Farrar opened for such artists as Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa. He has also worked with Rapper Big Pooh, G-Side, Main Attrakionz, Boldy James and Emilio Rojas, among others.
