The initial version of the police report regarding the alleged assault in Washington, D.C. that led to Chris Brown's arrest said that the singer did not throw the first punch in the incident.

Chris Brown did not throw the first punch during an altercation in Washington, D.C. yesterday (October 27) that led to the singer’s arrest on felony assault charges, according to an initial draft of the police report regarding the incident, as per TMZ.com.

The first version of the police report said that Brown’s bodyguard threw the first punch during the incident, which began when the singer was reportedly approached at approximately 4:30 am yesterday by two women who wanted to take a picture with him in front of the W Hotel in Washington, D.C., according to law enforcement, as per TMZ. When two men attempted to get into the photo, Brown allegedly used a gay slur before allegedly throwing a punch at the alleged victim, as per TMZ.com.

The initial version of the police report said that Brown participated in the altercation after it was underway, TMZ.com says.

The police report now says that Brown is the one who landed the punch that broke the alleged victim’s nose, while the initial report says that Brown’s bodyguard is the one who landed the blow, TMZ.com says.

Beyond the revised statement, TMZ reports that police videotaped Brown, his bodyguard, the alleged victim and other witnesses regarding the altercation. Their descriptions of the events are not the same, as per TMZ.com.

The inconsistencies may work in Brown’s favor, TMZ.com says.

Brown is on probation for his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna and this incident could be viewed a violation of his probation, TMZ says. If so, he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
