Jay Z Sued Over "Run This Town" Single

Jay Z is being sued for his oeRun This Town single, which illegally sampled Eddie Bo(TM)s oeHook & Sling single, a lawsuit says.
Jay Z is being sued by TufAmerica Inc. over the alleged illegal use of Eddie Bo’s “Hook & Sling” song on his “Run This Town” single, according to nydailynews.com.
TufAmerica filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in Manhattan federal court yesterday (November 7), as per nydailyews.com.
TufAmerica says that it purchased the exclusive rights to “Hook & Sling” in 1996, according to nydailynews.com.
The suit, which also names Roc-A-Fella Records, LLC, Atlantic Recording Corp. and several other companies as defendants, is seeking revenue from “Run This Town” and other financial compensation to be determined at trial, as well as a court order to halt “further distribution and exploitation” of the Eddie Bo song, as per nydailyews.com.
TufAmerica has filed two other complaints against Roc-A-Fella in Manhattan federal court this year, the site says. Both suits were settled prior to trial.
Jay Z is also under investigation after purchasing a $33,900 Hublot watch for Yankees infielder Robinson Cano. The gifting of the Hublot watch to Cano on behalf of Jay Z and Roc Nation, which represent Cano, may or may not be in violation of a MLBPA rule that states that, "No Player Agent or Applicant shall provide, cause to be provided or promise to provide, any money or any other thing of value to any player, or any person related to or associated with such player, the purpose of which is to induce or encourage such player to use or continue to use any person's or firm's services as a Player Agent, Representative, or Draft Advisor."
Furthermore, any gift worth $500 or more that is given to a client must be disclosed to the MLBPA. It is currently unclear what disciplinary action or actions Jay Z may face if he did in fact violate the MLBPA rule with his gift.
