Lawsuit Dropped Against The Game

By: current.comPosted On: 10/22/2009 5:10 P

A North Carolina judge has dismissed a defamation suit against rapper The Game.

The lawsuit's origins can be traced to an October 2005 incident at the Four Seasons Towne Center in Greensboro.

As previously reported, The Game had been walking through a mall wearing a Halloween mask shortly before a planned appearance at Winston-Salem State University. His entourage was filming him walking through the mall, which violated mall rules.

When security guards approached the rapper and his entourage and ordered the group to cease their filming, an altercation ensued. As a result, The Game was pepper sprayed and arrested. He was subsequently chared with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A video of the arrest made its way onto the internet, and the footage was used by the rapper itself on the Stop Snitching/Stop Lying DVD. The officers seen in the footage filed a 2006 defamation of character lawsuit against The Game, claming that he had illegal used one of the officers' images in marketing the DVD.

The original lawsuit was dismissed in 2008, and the subsequent appeal was dismissed on Tuesday (Oct. 20).
