RZA says chess opponents should "get ready to protect ya neck."

RZA is set to compete in the Hip-Hop Chess Federation's 8-person Chess Kings Invitational celebrity tournament, scheduled to take place at the Anaheim Business Expo on Sunday February 16, 2014. Portions of the proceeds from the event are slated to help fund after school programs in South Los Angeles schools, according to The Hip-Hop Chess Federation (HHCF) founder Adisa “The Bishop” Banjoko.

“This event will help get HHCF the funds to start to after school programs in South Central Los Angeles," Banjoko said, according to The Urban Daily. "I have chosen Santee High School as one, and the other will be determined by RZA, our Director of Outreach."

Wu-Tang Clan co-founder RZA also commented on his involvement with the tournament.

“I am looking forward to the upcoming chess battle at the HHCF Chess Kings Invitational in Los Angeles," RZA said. "To those knowing I have to defend my belt, get ready to protect ya neck.”

Dilated Peoples’ Rakaa Iriscience, Mike Relm, DJ Rob Flow, and Quadir Lateef are also set to participate in the event.

Beyond participating in the chess tournament, RZA is also set to join martial arts masters and educators and chess masters in a "Mind Over Matter" panel.
