Future Says Beyonce & Jay Z's "Drunk In Love" Started As A Song For His Album

By: hiphopdx.comPosted On: 03/24/2014 9:48 P

Future says "I demoed it first for her to listen to. I guess she had done the record and she was saving [it] and I had did another version."

Sitting down for an interview prior to his performance on The Wendy Williams Show, Future described how Beyonce and Jay Z's "Drunk In Love" began as a track he wrote with shared producer Detail for his upcoming album Honest.

"I demoed the song with the producer," he said. "I demoed it first for her to listen to. I guess she had done the record and she was saving the record and I had did another version, 'Good Morning,' because we didn't know when she was going to put the album out. Then she put it out [in] December, after I was supposed to put my album out in November, it just pushed my song to the side."

Asked if his version would appear on Honest, Future described that it would not. "It's not on the album because it was like towards the first beginning of the song, it's like the same melody," he said. "A little bit of confusion." Future's "Good Morning" is available for stream on HipHopDX.

During his interview with Wendy Williams he confirmed his album release date and explained the title, a change he made in August of last year from Future Hendrix to its current version. "I wanted to be more personal," he said. "Like you said, I'm more laid back and mysterious, I want to be more personal on my album. Open up to my fans."

The recently released tracklist includes features from Andre 3000, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Kanye West, and more. The deluxe version will carry an additional six songs including a Lil Wayne feature on the final track. The album, scheduled for an April 22 release, will also be executive produced by Mike Will Made-It.
