Chris Brown Explains Drake Beef Ending

Chris Brown tired of being looked at "as the aggressor," says Drake could have appeared on "X."

While speaking with MTV News, Virginia crooner Chris Brown spoke on the moment he made amends with fellow singer Drake after being contacted by the Canadian musician’s people in regards to appearing in a skit with Drake during the ESPY Awards.

Brown revealed that he doesn’t hold any animosity towards anyone and shared that the end of his feud with Drizzy merely consisted of a few words. The singer also spoke on being tired of being looked at as the aggressor and how he’s changed following his time spent in jail.

“Well, I think it was his camp that actually—And him himself actually called and asked to do the skit,” Chris Brown said. “For me I’m not—Especially after getting out of jail. Learning, going through what I’ve been going through I just didn’t have any animosity towards anybody. I’m just focused on me and what I was doing. So, I just felt it was a great opportunity being that the ESPYs are such a prestigious awards show. I just wanted to be able to bring light to the situation and just grow up. I’m 25. I’m not getting no younger. I’m still young, but you can’t walk around holding grudges, looking over your shoulder. Being negative all the time. I’m tired of being looked at as the aggressor. So, for me I just wanted to show my maturity. We young, so a lot of it ain’t like ‘Let’s have a pow wow and sit down over tea and drink.’ It’s like ‘Oh, what’s up? You good? Cool. One-hundred.’ What’s already understood don’t need to be explained. You know what I’m saying? So, it wasn’t a problem.”

According to Brown, Drake appearing on his upcoming album X could have been a possibility if he hadn’t already completed the project.

The singer was later asked if he and Drake share any similarities in the studio. In regards to their time spent in the studio, he revealed that they both prefer different recording environments. Brown says he prefers a party-like atmosphere when he’s in the studio while Drake is usually in the studio with just himself or a producer.

“If my album wasn’t finished already it probably would have happened…Just working on music is something that we’re gonna continuously try to do and make happen,” he said. “I know it’ll be a big thing for the fans if they hear a song, but it got to be the right song. For both of us at the end of the day…When we were in the studio he was like, ‘Aw man, I need to have my studio like this.’ I was like ‘What you mean?’ He was like ‘Usually I’m in there with my producer or whatever and I’m in there by myself.’ See, my vibe is a little different. I like to have a party. It’s like the club in my [studio]. It’s like 15 or 20 girls, a couple of my homies, a couple of drinks. Everybody’s having fun. And I just get the vibe off the energy from them. Unless I’m trying to write a really serious, sad song.”

Prior to appearing in an ESPY Awards skit together earlier this year, both Drake and Chris Brown were in an ongoing feud, which peaked when both singers and their entourages were involved in a brawl at W.i.P. in New York City in 2012.

Following the incident, both artists exchanged disses on wax and in various interviews.
