No I.D. plans to continue "standard for excellence" at Def Jam following promotion to head of A&R.

Roughly three years after being named executive VP At Def Jam, Chicago, Illinois producer No I.D. has been promoted to the position of executive vice president in charge of all A&R activities at Def Jam.

Considered a veteran in the music industry, No I.D. also has his own label titled ARTium Records. The label is home to fellow Chicago artist Common and Los Angeles, California songstress Jhene Aiko.

In a statement, No I.D. spoke on his new role of head A&R at Def Jam and revealed that he hopes to continue with the “standard for excellence” Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons solidified decades ago as the founders of Def Jam.

"The Def Jam brand has never been more culturally relevant, and our vision remains the same as it was when Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons launched the label 30 years ago; and that is to simply be the best," No I.D. said, according to Billboard.com. "Steve Bartels and I are fully committed to carry that vision and standard for excellence into the future."

Def Jam CEO, Steve Bartels also expressed his excitement at No I.D.’s new role at Def Jam.

"In a year where Def Jam has established such new artists as Iggy Azalea, Jhene Aiko, YG, and August Alsina, no one is better suited to creatively represent and expertly guide our label moving forward than No I.D.," Bartels said. "He is not only a proven hitmaker and creative thinker, but he is a bold leader who is well respected by both the artists and executives alike. Together, we are poised for even greater levels of success."

Throughout his decades-long music career, No I.D. has worked with a number of artists including Kanye West, Usher, Jay Z, Jeezy, and Drake.
