The Hot 97 Morning Show personality says the music he previewed from Kendrick Lamar's next album is "not like anything else that's out there right now."

Reacting to a short and private preview of Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming album, Hot 97 Morning Show co-host Peter Rosenberg described a four-song preview as "not anything like what you’ve heard from Kendrick before.”

“After the interview, I was privy to hear some of the new music from Kendrick Lamar that will appear on his next album dropping some time in early 2015,” Peter Rosenberg said on today’s edition of The Realness. “If this album is anything like what I heard we are in for a treat. Yes, Kendrick Lamar somehow has developed even more, gone to another level. He’s talking about Black righteousness. He’s talking about Africa. There’s social commentary. There’s all kinds of deep thoughts...There are deep thoughts throughout, however, it is upbeat music that is gonna thrive in the club and on the radio. However, just like good kid m.A.A.d. city, you can hear there’s no attempt to make club music.

“This music that I heard, specifically a song that a lot of people are buzzing about called ‘King Kunta,’ it is not anything like what you’ve heard from Kendrick before,” he added. “It’s not like anything else that’s out there right now. It is, however, phenomenal. Upbeat, driving bass, drums, heavy drums. I heard four songs, and the sampling that I heard was amazing. A lot of people have given me a hard time because I hitched my wagon so-to-speak to the Kendrick Lamar train. Listen, I don’t do it very often. There’s certain artists that I’m willing to push my chips in because I’m confident in the product we’re gonna get, Kendrick Lamar, chief of among those artists. And guys, don’t be mad ‘cause I got it right. This next album is gonna be as good as good kid m.A.A..d. city. It may be even on a different and higher level. Early 2015, new Kendrick album. And I promise you when these songs come out that I heard yesterday, you are all gonna say—well, not all of you. Some of you YouTube haters are just gonna say, ‘You’re fat and disgusting.’ Others of you, who know better, will say, ‘Rosenberg, you got it right again.’ That’s the realness.”
