Nicki Minaj praises Meek Mill, says rappers like DMX are needed in Hip Hop.

While sharing the details of how her "Flawless (Remix)" collaboration with Beyonce came about, Queens, New York rapper Nicki Minaj revealed that when her collab with Beyonce was complete, she was told that Jay Z was inspired by what she did on the song.

Minaj spoke on the song and Jay Z's kudos during an interview with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez this week.

"Her vibe was real free," Nicki Minaj said while speaking on Beyonce. "And it just made me feel real comfortable. Like ‘Oh, okay. She’s telling me I can be myself. Perfect.’ So, when I did send it to her, [G] was like ‘Jay told me to tell you he’s inspired by what you did on it.’ And I was like ‘What?’ Very, very excited. So, that’s really how that all went down."

Later in the interview, Minaj was asked about fellow artist Meek Mill, who appears on The Pinkprint’s “Buy A Heart.” She doted on the Philly lyricist and revealed that more artists like Meek are needed in Hip Hop.

The Young Money rapstress later brought DMX and the Lox into the conversation as she criticized current rappers in the game.

"I think he’s [Meek Mill] amazing. I love what he represents," she said. "I love what he represents for dudes that think like him and act like him and live like him. And I told him before like ‘You’re so important to our culture. You know what I’m saying? We always need that type of guy. Like that DMX. I need a DMX."

"When I was growing up I needed to see a dude act like that," she added. "And talk like that. And be like [that]. Cause a lot of people in the game now…There was a time when there was like DMXs and Loxs. And they’re speaking about what they experience. And that’s why hood dudes identify with them. And I think there has to be both. Guys that aren’t like that. Cause let’s face it, every man is not like that. But I definitely think there should always be that kind of dude in Hip Hop."
