Mister Cee Discusses Bisexuality & Move To Radio 103.9

"It’s not that I don’t want to say I’m bisexual," Mister Cee says.

Although Mister Cee's recent departure from WGHT Hot 97 seemed abrupt, the famed DJ says he always knew he would transition to urban adult radio.

Nearly a month after leaving the New York City Hip Hop station he called home for two decades, Cee (born Calvin Lebrun) has found refuge at the reformatted radio 103.9, a move he says provided him a "fresh start in his career."

"I can play anything, any genre of music, but I do feel that because of the direction that Hot is going in, I might be the answer for now, but I don’t think I’ll be the answer five or 10 years from now, ”he told The Times.

In a recent profile piece by the New York Times, Mister Cee spoke openly about his decision to resign from Hot 97 and his sexuality.

After an alleged four sex scandals in three years, which included a May 2013 arrest for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover male police officer posing as a prostitute, the embattled DJ placed himself on a brief suspension last year. This time around, Cee didn't tell anyone he was leaving. "Nobody knew that I was going to resign that day," Cee says.

Instead, he announced his departure via Instagram, in a post that read: "Thank U 4 Everything I will always love you!!!!"

Cee is still dealing with the addiction that muddled his last few years at Hot 97. He goes to therapy twice a month to provide clarity about his sexuality.

"It’s not that I don’t want to say I’m bisexual," he said. "It’s almost like, you hear a certain record — is this a Hip Hop record or an R&B record? I’m not so sure. I guess that’s where I am."

Cee feels differently about the incidents that occurred now, "doing it illegally was wrong," he says. "Saying all of it was wrong is not fair to myself, and it’s not fair to the gay community."
