R. Kelly says that he's "been all around the world musically."
R. Kelly says that he is working on a sequel to Black Panties, his 2013 album.
"It’s called White Panties,” R. Kelly says during an interview with V Magazine. "And you can expect a whole other level.”
The Chicago-based singer-songwriter says that the thematic direction of Black Panties was a result of feedback from his fans.
"Everyone has been asking me when I’m going to do another baby-making album, because that’s what started me out,” he says. "I’ve been all around the world musically, in every genre. I can write 'I Believe I Can Fly,' and I can write 'Bump N’ Grind.' Now is the time to bring it back around. “
R. Kelly also says he is crafting material for tourmate Mary J. Blige.
"I’m in the studio right now working on a song for me and Mary,” he says. "I’m even looking forward to proposing that we do a whole album together. But this is the first I’ve mentioned it. The King & Queen album."
R. Kelly and Mary J. Blige announced in December that they would be embarking upon the King & Queen tour. An itinerary for the tour has yet to be announced.
