The second season is scheduled to include celebrity judges Mobb Deep, Kid Capri, The L.O.X., and more.
Following their first season ending in September, BET has announced that “106 & Park” will again partner with SMACK and the Ultimate Rap League for a second season of their collaborative ‘Ultimate Freestyle Friday’ segment. The second season of 'UFF' will premiere on March 28 at 6:00 PM EST on the BET network and will again be co-hosted by SMACK DVD founder Troy “Smack” Mitchell.
The network television battle rap segment will match up last season’s winner, rapper Ill Will, against the second season’s victor in a 106 Backroom finale for a $5,000 grand prize. The competition is scheduled to take place over seven weeks and will include eight emcees.
‘Ultimate Freestyle Friday’ will maintain its celebrity judge format with Season 2 slated to include Mobb Deep, Kid Capri, The L.O.X., Papoose, Saigon, Smif-N-Wessun, and more as judges. UFF co-host Smack talked to BET about the upcoming season in a recent interview. "I'm really excited about doing a second season of Ultimate Freestyle Friday with ‘106 & PARK’,” he said. “Making the transition from DVDs to online and now to network television speaks volumes on the evolution on rap culture. I've been documenting hip-hop culture for years and the SMACK / Ultimate Rap League brand is the leading force responsible for bringing MC Battle culture to masses.”
“106 & Park” is a video countdown show that has aired on the BET network since September of 2000. Beginning in October of 2013, Keshia Chanté joined rapper Bow Wow as co-host of the series.
