Bobby Shmurda's Mother Clarifies His Instagram Rant

"It's not that he's not getting paid, it's that he's new to the business," Bobby Shmurda's mother and acting manager says.

After her son posted an Instagram rant last week about not being paid for performances, Bobby Shmurda’s mother and manager Leslie Pollard refuted the claims in a statement to Billboard.

Last week, Shmurda wrote in part, “I’m doing all theses show not getting ma money dey got me doing shit every fucking day.”

"It's not that he's not getting paid, it's that he's new to the business," Shmurda’s mother told Billboard. "There's a chain of command that he has to go through before he gets his payment. I guess he's thinking all the money should go from the front man to his hands—it doesn't work like that. Of course they hold onto it so he actually does the show. Then it goes to his business manager, then to the touring accountant, and then to him."

Pollard added that Shmurda was “just impulse talkin” and claimed that they had nearly resolved the issue according to Billboard.

Bobby Shmurda’s debut release as an Epic Records artist will arrive on November 10 in the form of a five-track EP. Shmurda She Wrote will include the young rapper’s two singles to date, “Hot Nigga” and “Bobby Bitch.”

Yesterday, HipHopDX reported that Bobby Shmurda’s song “Hot Boy,” the radio-friendly version of his street single, clocked in at #4 on the R&B/Hip Hop singles chart. Last week Shmurda’s single sold 49,618 and entered the Top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for the first time in the process.
