Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will executive produce a TV adaptation of Smith's 2005 comedy "Hitch."

Fox is currently developing a half-hour television program based on Will Smith’s 2005 movie Hitch according to The Hollywood Reporter. The network has granted the comedy a script commitment and Will Smith, his longtime business partner James Lassiter, wife Jada Pinkett Smith, and her brother Caleeb Pinkett are all set to serve as executive producers. Smith and Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television will produce the show.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the show as “a workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics.”

Will Smith and James Lassiter launched their Overbrook Entertainment production company in the late ‘90s and Jada Pinkett Smith is listed as a partner. Overbrook has produced films like Wild Wild West, Love & Basketball, ATL, I Robot, Ali, and more. In 2005, Overbook Entertainment, which takes its name from Smith’s neighborhood in Philadelphia, produced Hitch and the film was distributed by Columbia Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the comedy grossed just under $370 million and was considered for a TV run separately in 2007 and 2010 by CBS and Fox with different writers attached.

In June, HipHopDX reported that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith had been cleared by Child Protective Services following an investigation into their parenting stemming from concerns over the safety of their daughter Willow Smith given the content of her social media activity.
