Jay Sean Leaves Cash Money Records

By: hiphopdx.comPosted On: 10/27/2014 4:21 P

Jay Sean departs Cash Money, saying his "heart wasn't in chasing pop success anymore."

UK crooner Jay Sean has parted ways with Cash Money Records after six years with the label.

This story comes following Tyga and Lil Twist’s recent public frustrations with YMCMB. However, according to a story in Billboard, the relationship ended on good terms.

"I had and still maintain a great relationship with Slim and Baby [CEOs of Cash Money]," Jay Sean says during an interview with Billboard. "They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success."

It appears Jay Sean wishes to head in a different direction as an artist. "It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and 'the smash' when really my heart wasn't in it anymore," he says. "That's not why I got into this game."

Jay Sean is among a list of artists who have left Cash Money this year, including Busta Rhymes and Mystikal.

Jay Sean signed with Cash Money in 2008 and released two albums under the imprint, 2009’s All or Nothing and 2013’s Neon. He is gearing up for the release of his new mixtape, Mistress II, set for release in November.
