The Mississippi musician also discusses concepts behind upcoming "Cadillactica" album.

In a video interview with Montreality published today (November 4), Mississippi-born musician Big K.R.I.T. spoke about getting compared to Kendrick Lamar, his life growing up and his upcoming album Cadillactica.

“It’s just one of those things where I realized that I always have to prove myself musically.” Big K.R.I.T. says in the video. “The difference between me and a lot of these artists is that I can produce not only for myself but for other people. I write all my lyrics. I mix my own stuff down. So that ensures that I’m gonna be around a long time.”

Big K.R.I.T.’s second studio album, Cadillactica, is scheduled to be released November 11.

Earlier this Fall, K.R.I.T. dropped his latest mixtape, See Me On Top Vol. 4, which received a score of 3.5 out of 5 from HHDX.

This Spring, the King Remembered in Time unleashed his “Mt. Olympus” single , which he said was written in response to Kendrick Lamar’s  “Control” verse.

“I wrote that song a day after the ‘Control’ verse came out," he said in an October CRWN interview with Elliott Wilson. "But why would I drop it? Something else happened strategically. It wouldn’t have helped me to drop it then. I learned that this game is chess, not checkers. I’m not gonna jump you right after you jump me. I gotta think about this."
