The platinum rapper caught up with with Oprah Winfrey Network's "Where Are They Now?"
Clifford “T.I.” Harris spoke with Oprah Winfrey’s producers about raising children for the upcoming episode of Where Are They Now? which is slated to air on OWN Sunday (November 23).
“We don’t shy away from controversial subjects in this house,” T.I. says in a clip provided by the Oprah Winfrey Network. “We can’t. There’s a part of my life, I guess, you know, that I have learned lesson from, but I am not letting them learn the same lesson from it. I think that’s doing the child a disservice."
Later in the interview, T.I. describes some of the lessons he learned from his legal troubles.
“When I had been federally indicted by the ATF on weapons charges, that was an ‘Ah-ha’ moment for me,” T.I. says in the clip. “It put things in perspective once I had already recognized the error in my ways. That was when I was the most positive. That was my growth spurt.”
The show, which is set to air at 9 pm EST, also features interview’s with MTV’s “Downtown” Julie Brown and TV mom Meredith Baxter.
T.I. also discussed some of his best work in a recent interview covered by HipHopDX.
Pharrell Williams, who collaborated with T.I. on “Paperwork” from T.I,’s latest album Paperwork, made headlines for crying during an interview with Oprah this April.
In a previous radio segment, T.I. spoke on the difference between his personal life and the persona in his Rap music in regards to his family reality show.
“It’s a look inside the lives of me and my family," T.I. said at the time. "It gives insight into how I balance my personal and professional lives. I don’t like the term 'reality series' because that word has a negative stigma. It discredits all the effort and energy I put into the show. We want to be taken seriously. This is not nonsense.”
